Calvert wins

Another Congressman with space ties who won reelection last night is Rep. Ken Calvert (R-CA). Calvert told the Riverside Press-Enterprise that he hopes to take over from Rep. Dana Rohrabacher as chairman of the House Science Committee’s space subcommittee, saying that such a job “would be an extraordinary challenge.”

It’s time to start writing your congressmen and for activist to guide the future of space. Even if Bush hasn’t made a big deal of space policy, we know with O’Keefe as Administrator that human spaceflight will be important for the next 4 years. Bush has laid out a large piece of clay and now we must all help shape it for a better tomorrow. The freshmen and all congressmen must be told how important space policy is to America. I would hope the emphasis will be on enabling private companies to expand human spaceflight into space. Our duty as citizens is to make our voices heard and not just once or twice a year.
