Contrary to some reports, Republican presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani did make it to Florida’s Space Coast on Wednesday. However, a bomb threat at one of Giuliani’s planned stops truncated his schedule, leading to the cancellation of a meeting with the Florida Today editorial board that offered one of the best chances to date for the candidate to tackle a space policy question or two. Giuliani did appear at a press conference, but the Florida Today article linked to above only mentions proposed tax cuts.
Who cares what Guliani thinks. It appears, however, that Obama’s campaign has submitted a summary of its position on space

It actually looks very good. Apart from its endorsement of Ares I, it looks reasonable. The most noteworthy item for this forum is that there is no mention of human exploration beyond LEO. However, the emphasis on robotic exploration is clear.
Obama is the Man!
No mention of COTS either. He does not even use the word “commercial”.
I don’t expect that in a one paragraph statement, but in a policy statement this long, it shows up as “missing”.
I am not ready or willing to pull a Whittington, but I think we should be asking/challenging the Obama campaign to expand on this.
